Confirmation: Strengthened by the Holy Spirit

The Sacrament of Confirmation is a powerful moment in the life of every Catholic. It completes the grace of Baptism and strengthens us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit to live out our faith with courage and conviction.

When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
— John 20:22

In Confirmation, we are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit—just as the apostles were at Pentecost. This sacrament deepens our relationship with God, roots us more firmly in the Church, and empowers us to be active witnesses to Christ in the world.

Through the laying on of hands and anointing with sacred chrism, the bishop calls down the Holy Spirit upon the candidate, confirming them in faith and mission.

Confirmation is not graduation from faith—it's a beginning. It equips us to live as mature Christians, ready to serve, to lead, and to proclaim the Gospel in word and action.
