Come, celebrate with us!

In 1873, the building of St Ambrose’s church in Brunswick was completed, and the first Mass was celebrated there just in time for Christmas. This year, on 19 November 2023, St Ambrose’s community will be celebrating 150 years since the opening and blessing of their church. It is a significant event. St Ambrose’s is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Melbourne. All are welcome to celebrate with us.

Archbishop Peter Comensoli, along with visiting priests and former priests of the parish, will be celebrating Mass at 10.30am on Sunday 19 November in the church. This will be followed by a shared, catered lunch in the grounds of the church to which all are invited. At 2.00pm, following the lunch, the group Progetto Corelli will perform a concert of Baroque music in the church. All events will be free of charge.

If you live in Brunswick or have any connection with St Ambrose’s church, or even if you have an interest in the history of Melbourne, you are very welcome. If you know someone who was baptised or married at St Ambrose’s, please let them know – or perhaps your grandparents were married there – you are welcome to celebrate this milestone with us.

For catering purposes RSVP by 1 November to bmcc@cam.org.au or phone 9380 1023
